Stellar is a compact active two-way loudspeaker project used as a fabrication and integration testbed within 3SB Audio.

The project exists to validate cabinet lamination, CNC rib construction, amplifier integration, and smaller-format DSP commissioning on a shorter iteration cycle than the larger loudspeaker work.

Construction Method

The enclosure uses laminated Baltic birch sections with ribs carried across the front and rear baffles. Dowel registration supports repeatable alignment during assembly.

Threaded inserts are used at the driver interface to support repeated assembly and disassembly without degrading the baffle.

This approach is more labour-intensive than simple wood-screw mounting, but it improves serviceability during prototype development and measurement work.

Design Reference

Stellar is developed in Onshape as a cabinet reference model covering laminated Baltic birch sections, rib geometry, and assembly intent. The published files track the current prototype state rather than a locked production release.

Commissioning

In the current configuration, crossover and initial system setup are handled through the Hypex Fusion toolchain. That makes Stellar useful as both a loudspeaker project and a workflow validation environment.
